TOMS Shoes: Buy a Pair, Give a Pair

October 14, 2010 at 1:55 pm Leave a Comment

The TOMS Shoes One for One program touches my heart in ways I never expected. It isn’t a gimmick. It isn’t a temporary promotion. It’s a movement and a promise—for every pair of shoes purchased, TOMS Shoes TOMS Shoes will donate a pair to someone in need.

The company was founded by Blake Mycoskie in 2006 after an inspiring trip to Argentina. He designed the original shoes based on the traditional Argentine alpargata shoe, but they now carry several styles. Last month, they celebrated a major milestone. In just 4 years of business, over 1 million pairs of shoes have been donated to children in need around the world.

One for one. Every time.

That video brings me to tears each time, but my youngest love to watch it for some reason. I think she likes to see all the children & hear the different languages. If that video doesn’t make you want to rush out and buy a new pair of shoes, I don’t know what will! Well, maybe a sale would help. Save $5 on your purchase when you use coupon code KIDS5 on any pair of shoes for kids.

I think my girls would love this peace sign shoe—but the story behind the company may just break their tender hearts.
