Thankful Thursday: Operation SOS

July 23, 2009 at 11:09 am Leave a Comment

Free groceries that your family won’t use can bless another. Free after rebates school supplies that your children don’t need can start another child off right. Our grocery lists offer an easy way to identify items that food banks desperately need.

As I head off to BlogHer later today, I am very excited to learn about the opportunities for sharing. In the spirit of both going green and sharing with others, Operation Save Our Soaps has been created. BlogHer attendees are encouraged to contribute their hotel samples to be donated to a women’s homeless shelter in Chicago. I’m even packing a bag of toiletries from previous trips that I have gathered for just such a donation.

With over 1500 women in attendance this weekend, I can only imagine the impact such a movement will have. This is yet another classic example of small ways you can make a big difference. The next time you take a trip, bring home the soap! You can add it to your food bank bag or keep a collection to donate to another shelter or charity in need. It’s the little things that change everything.
