Shopping With Coupons And Kids

Shopping with Kids
One of the most challenging parts of coupon shopping has to be when you have to juggle kids, coupons, groceries and money.  And it usually happens to have a bump all at the same time.  There are a few things you can do to help with the stress and to keep the kids occupied while you shop.

If you have an infant or young toddler, it is best to bring treats and toys with you.  Give them the treats to eat as you go through the store and be sure you buckle them in to the cart.  Sometimes you may have to walk away from your baby to get something this is important.  The toys are there as a back up as I find they tend to get tired of them quicker then they do the food.

If you have an older toddler that can walk and stay close to you.  give them some of the coupons to hold and talk to them about the coupons as you go.  If you are concerned about the child messing up the coupons, give them some you don’t need and keep them for each trip to the store.  Have the child get the products they have coupons for (if you are buying them) and put them in the basket.  Then have them put the coupons in your organizer.

For older children, give them their own list of items and make it like a scavenger hunt.  This is so much fun for all involved. You can even have a prize for the person that does it the quickest.  Free items are great prizes for these types of things! This helps them to stay occupied and for you to get in and out of the store faster because everyone is working together. The older kids can also help with the money at the register if you use cash.  having them count the bills is always a fun thing for them.

Shopping with coupons and kids doesn’t have to be stressful.  It can be fun and a family building experience.  It can be great fun and something that the kids look forward to.  It just takes a bit of planning and creativity!
