Halloween Theme Dinner

Spider Crackers, Frankenstien Pudding and Strawberry Ghosts

Does you family take part in any traditions at Halloween? My family has a theme dinner before we hit the streets for trick or treating. I make up a menu of silly Halloween themed names. I then print out the menu for my family to read over.

My nephews are a bit older than my kids and they always get a kick out of the menu! They try to guess what the food will actually be. Plus, it is nice to know that their bellies are full with a hearty meal before the sugar takes over!

Here are some examples:

  • Witches Fingers with Blood Sauce (Mozzarella sticks and Marinara sauce)
  • Mummy Dogs (Hot dogs or Lil’smokies wrapped in crescent rolls)
  • Snakes & Eyeballs (Spaghetti & Meatballs)
  • Bone Breadsticks (Take Pillsbury breadstick dough, tie a knot in the end, bake)
  • Eyeball Jelly (Jell-o Jigglers)
  • Witches Brew (Punch w/ gummy worms frozen inside of the ice cubes)

For other ideas, Family Fun has a whole list of Halloween themed recipes.

Renae, when I published your post, I added a picture of some of my own Halloween-themed creations! We do this every year also – I’ve made Hasselback potatoes and called them Witches’ Bones, Bloody Eyeballs(meatballs) and Jack-O-Juice (orange sherbet punch). It is a ton of fun and the girls are already asking what spooky foods I’m making this year.
