I am really loving the festive, frugal ideas everyone is sharing through our Countdown to Christmas. I hope you are enjoying it as much as I am! Today, we invite you to share your own tips on inexpensive holiday decorations. Do you use homemade decor or display children’s artwork? We’d love to see pictures of your holiday crafts—we still have a few queued up in our Christmas countdown.
Most of my decor is store-bought, but I always buy on clearance in January. It is so much fun to pull out the holiday tub and find all the new treasures I purchased so long ago that I’ve already forgotten. I add to my collection each year, but I love our old favorites just as much. There is just something about the old and new side by side. My favorite part of our collection is the Christmas village we put up each year on our couch-length bookcase. When we were first starting out, my little sisters (9 and 12 at the time) started the series. Each year, they were so excited to give me the new pieces they had chosen for my Christmas gifts. I love the tradition of displaying the same items year after year and the joy of showcasing something my little sisters selected for themselves.
Don’t forget to check back daily as we continue our Countdown to Christmas! We also hope you’ll join us next week for Money Saving Monday to share tips on free holiday fun—what free events or activities do you attend around the holidays?
