What did the little birdie say when he landed on top of the Kmart sign?
“Cheap! Cheap!”
Notice he did not say “Unstylish! Poor quality! Out dated!”
When you’re on a budget, cheap is good! Especially when you’re talking about the latest trends—we all want to look and feel good, but there’s only so much room in the budget!
There’s been a lot of talk about the new looks available from Kmart this fall and I recently had the opportunity to see some of the pieces up close and personal. I was immediately impressed and, of course, spouted off and said “this is from Kmart?” in disbelief. And I think that’s exactly the response they want because it goes to show that they have really stepped up their game in the fashion department.
Here’s how Kmart describes their fall collection:
The Fall 2010 Apparel collection is based on the latest trends, pulling from current styles in the fashion world like the Military-inspired Sgt. Pepper Jacket with shoulder embellishments, a Rocker Chic Bomber Jacket and Distressed Skinny Denim. Fall wardrobe basics like the skinny cargo pant complement bolder looks like the high-waisted peplum military jacket. Where Kmart really stands out is in the details. Fine stitching, fully lined jackets, and streamlined silhouettes.
I was most impressed with the detail on all the items – seams and hems are nicely stitched, buttons are heavy and sewn in place tightly, and jackets are fully lined. The are also lots of unique statement pieces in their accessory collections – big chunky watches, long chains and strands of beads, and lots of leather and metal.
You know what else is great? With back-to-school shopping in full-swing, lots of Kmart’s new fall styles are age appropriate for trendy teens!
Here are some of my favorite items from the collection. Kudos to Kmart for being on trend and within budget!

Attention Lace Print Tee $12.99
Skinny Cargo Pant $24.99
Cropped Military jacket with with sequined shoulder $29.99

I think since Sears and Kmart teamed up, Kmart styles have gotten better.
