Can you believe that I’ve lived in Austin for almost exactly a year and I’ve yet to visit the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center? Unacceptable! But that’s going to change this month.
All January, admission to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is FREE!
Now, you may think January isn’t the best time to visit the Wildflower Center because the bluebonnets aren’t in full bloom, but they have some great exhibits in January. Flowers in Art features the paintings of Stella Alesi and photography of Richard Reynolds, Red Flag(s) Sculpture is an installation featuring over 200 flags made from salvaged wood and steel by local artists Bill Ivey and Bob Taylor, and Southern Exposure is a limited-time exhibit featuring breathtaking photos of Antarctica taken by Austin photographer Bill Nowlin.
The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is open 9 am – 5:30 pm Tuesday through Saturday, noon – 5:30 pm on Sunday, and closed on Monday.
