One person is diagnosed with breast cancer every three minutes in the United States. Lee National Denim Day was started in 1996 to raise money to find a cure for breast cancer. The philosophy is “one day, one cause, one cure®”.
How It Works
According to their website, “Lee Jeans invited companies to go casual for a cause, inviting employees to wear their jeans to work on Denim Day in exchange for a $5 contribution to the fight against breast cancer. The underlying concept behind the program was simple – by convincing enough people to take one small step, together they could reach an incredible goal.”
How You Can Participate
*You can make a donation to an individual or a team. You can search using a name and/or a city.
*You can get a team together to wear denim on October 8th. It doesn’t have to be a group of coworkers, it can be a group of friends or an organization.
*You can spread the word about National Denim Day to your friends through social media. Here is a sample of a tweet or facebook update you can use:
“October 8th is National Denim Day. Find out how you can raise money to help find a cure for Breast Cancer at www.denimday.com”
