I’d like to tell you I’ve never joined a gym because it isn’t in my budget. The truth is, I’ve just never been interested in exercise. I swam through high school and into college. I roller bladed through that time as well. Then I had kids, and my idea of fitness was running after a toddler as she neared danger. The only running I ever did was to beat a child to the car, to keep her safe from the road.
I’ve recently become motivated to make a change—to lose the extra “baby” weight (you know, now that she’s 5) and show my girls what it means to live a healthy lifestyle. Along with changing my eating habits, I’m implementing a fitness program. With a little (okay, a lot) of help from my friend Leah and her Mamavation sistahood, I’ve been working out twice each day.
And, it hasn’t cost me a penny!
As a Mamavation applicant, I’m required to participate in “hazing” workouts from Fit Mom in Training. These have included jumping jacks, pushups, crunches, planks, squats, lunges, jogging in place and some weight training.
I started out using canned foods & shampoo bottles, so I didn’t have to spend money on anything right away. I’ve had to Google nearly every exercise she assigns, but they’re simple to do from home. Check out fitness training videos on YouTube for proper form.
Then, look around your house to see what’s already available to get you started. No weights? Use anything you can hold, from around the house, to do bicep curls, shoulder press and flies. No treadmill? Try jogging in place or walking through a large area of your home. I’ve also run up & down my stairs a few times. It’s easy to get your blood pumping without the cost of fancy equipment or an expensive gym membership.
Plus, there’s nothing standing in your way of getting to the gym, when you’re already there. I’ve lost 2 pounds, so far, since last Monday. It might not seem like a lot, but I’m building muscle at the same time. My legs are already more toned, my jeans fit a lot looser & I’m feeling so much better about my body. All from the comfort of my own home, without affecting my family’s budget!

Still it could be coincidence that the only pneumonia vaccine ever administered to me
was just prior to my developing a full blown case of pneumonia.
A healthy diet is formulated for improving your health and maintaining it in the long run,
while a weight loss diet will assist you in shedding the extra
pounds from your body. Tell your doctor to be part of your fitness and health
goals with people in the gym and soon reap many rewards.
