As early as some of the school’s serve lunch, your kids are probably coming home hungry! My daughter eats lunch at 10:40. By the time she gets off the bus in the afternoon, you’d think she had never eaten. Providing a healthy snack is important, but you can make it fun so your kids will actually eat it!
Dress up bananas for a fun snack. Roll them in crushed peanuts or pretzels, drizzle with a little chocolate sauce or use them as the “fun dip” stick in a packet of gelatin mix. Yogurt is a quick, inexpensive dip for bananas or other fruits. On Friday, you can throw together a quick fruit salad with the week’s leftovers.
Pretzels are fun to dip in cheese or peanut butter. Make a simple fondue with milk & cheese. You can use it later in the week for breadsticks or a variety of vegetables. If your kids prefer ranch for their veggies, try a salad dressing over expensive dips or make your own dip by mixing sour cream with mayonnaise and adding your favorite seasoning blend.
