The Inexpensively Network connects individuals from around the country to provide families with the most up to date and accurate savings tools in their own communities. They compile weekly lists for grocery store deals, suggest ideas on living your life for less, offer tips on finding the best savings and encourage our community to be charitable even on a budget. Meet our team each week as we feature one of our contributors, in her own words.
I am a work at home mother of three girls. They have created in me a Montessori Mom, Scout Mom, Dance Mom, Allergy Mom and avid coupon clipper. My identity is so wrapped up in being a wife and mother that I often lose myself. On my blog, though, I’m Just Heather. Here at Inexpensively, I am Director of Operations and Indiana Inexpensively Coordinator.
I have been using coupons for most of my adult life. It started quite by accident one day in college when I found several coupons for things I had just purchased the day before. Finding the deals became a game and my savings became a student’s entertainment budget. Fine tuning the art of couponing quickly turned into an obsession. Once I was married with children, the obsession spiraled into all aspects of frugality.
My first frugal site emerged in 2004 from a desire to share my savings with friends and family to help them fill food bank donations for my church’s Bag Hunger program . I typically donate 1-2 bags of groceries each month just by purchasing free or nearly free items with coupons. FeedIndy.com has been a fun project for my husband and I to work on together. It has truly been a labor of love for the last five years and I couldn’t be more thrilled to widen our focus, helping families across the country to live their lives inexpensively.
From groceries to dining to our gluten free life, I’ll share my best tips and tricks for lowering your budget. What was once a necessity has become a way to stay home with my girls, enjoying life and focusing on what is most valuable to our family. Because living a sustainable life is important to our girls and their future, I share ideas on reducing your impact on the planet in ways that also reduce expenses. I also seek deals for general household expenses and family fun to entertain my girls on a budget, then dish about our adventures on my personal blog.
