Since it’s our first Christmas in Texas, 70 degrees and sunny isn’t exactly putting us in the holiday spirit. Especially when our home state is getting pummeled with blizzard-like conditions. Nothing says the holidays like running to the store for milk and toilet paper while all the weather stations report impending snowpocalypse!
Jamie Wallace (founder of Austin-based company Staw-lution) and her family must feel the same way since for the fourth year they have transformed their garage into a winter wonderland for everyone to enjoy during the holidays!
The Snow Room is a play room packed full of fake snow (made from perm papers, which are small wax covered pieces of tissue paper – brilliant!) for kids to toss around, roll in, and make the all important snow angel (adults are welcome to partake, as well) and a viewing area for parents to relax and browse a holiday bizarre with homemade crafts and gifts. They even have a snowblower to whip everything up into the best fake blizzard ever!
Admission is free, but donations are being accepted to help the family of local girl Story Cox, who is battling a rare form of Leukemia.
The Snow Room is open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. until December 31 (excluding Christmas Day). You can find more information on the Straw-lution Facebook page.
