With Back to School time here or just around the corner, it is the perfect time to talk lunch boxes. Whether your child packs a lunch daily or just once in awhile, having a lunch container that makes the job easy is important. There are dozens of lunch boxes on the market, but after years of trial and error we are headed into a new school year using the same ones we purchased last year—for the first time ever.
Laptop Lunch Boxes are a Bento-style container featuring several fun colors for your children to choose. The box is perfect for waste-free lunches, but even if going green isn’t your thing, the ease of packing a lunch without searching for baggies or trying to find just the right sized lid will make it worthwhile. Each laptop contains 4 containers—2 small squares and 2 larger rectangles (including 1 with a lid). They are just the right size for portioning leftovers, creating new meals and including the snacks your children love.
Also included in the kit is a cookbook with great, healthy lunch ideas and silverware so you can eliminate the expense of plasticware or save your child a trip to through the lunch line. All containers are dishwasher and microwave safe (however, the lid is not designed for the microwave). There is also a full laptop lunch system that includes a drink container and insulated carrying bag, though we have found that the kit will fit into many available lunch totes.
Just in case the girls were slightly disappointed at not getting to choose a new lunch box this year, we made a nice event of the annual backpack selection (on sale, of course). However, they are already excited about using their laptop lunches and planning their packing choices. Not only are they a hit, but they are still in great condition (minus 1 lid that led to the discovery that the lids are not, in fact, microwave safe). Each day, I am confident my girls leave for school with the perfect amount of food. The divided containers help me to visualize the variety of foods they will need for proper nutrition. I just cannot say enough great things about this lunch tote or the bento method of packing.

I love the sound of this. Don’t like it though that it isn’t microwave safe. How about dishwasher safe? If it can’t go in the dishwasher, I won’t touch it with a ten foot poll. I think these look cute and like the idea. Thanks for the review.

It is all dishwasher safe and everything except the lid is microwave safe! We use them daily and can’t believe they have lasted into a 2nd year.

We are going on year 3 of Elena’s Laptop Lunchbox, and I’ll be purchasing another one for Eli soon, too. I love this lunchbox! The containers have been through the dishwasher almost daily during the school year, and they still look brand new. Even though the price seems steep for a lunch box, you save money in the long run by not having to replace a lunch box every year (insulated bags get nasty) and by using far fewer plastic bags.
