Today, I would like to share a charity called Little Dresses for Africa.
According to their website, “Little Dresses for Africa is a non-profit, Christian based organization which provides relief to the children of Africa. Simple dresses are made out of pillow cases and distributed through the orphanages in Central Africa to plant in the hearts of little girls that they are worthy!”
The charity started when a group of women returned from a mission trip and started to sew dresses for little girls in the orphanages of Africa using pillow cases. Other groups joined in and so far they have received pillowcase dresses and material donations from almost every state in the US and over 50,000 dresses have been given to girls in over 13 African countries.
Little Dresses for Africa believes they are doing more than providing dresses, they are “sending HOPE!”
There are many ways you can help support Little Dresses for Africa. You can start or host your own sewing group or make the dresses by yourself using these dress directions or you can donate financially toward shipping costs.
One other option is donating materials, and this is where I’m asking for your help today. Kristin from the blog, We Are THAT Family, has a group of women that have volunteered to sew pillowcase dresses. She has the pillowcases, but yesterday tweeted that she needs 200 packages of double-bias tape by the end of this month (June). She said each package is only $1 but to buy all 200 is a little much for one person. I am hoping that we can all help her out. Whether you can spend $1 or $10, packages of double-bias tape can be sent to:

Kristin, myself, and the girls of Africa are extremely grateful for any help that you can provide! Remember, if you would like to learn more about Little Dresses for Africa you can visit their website.
