Tried It Tueday: Purex Complete

Tried It TuesdayI love anything that makes my life easier and provides convenience. Even more, I like things that I purchase inexpensive or free.  I happen to get a deal on Purex Complete 3-in-1′s a few weeks ago at Kmart Super Doubles.  Seeing that I used Purex for the last 10 years as my “regular” laundry soap, I thought I would love these.

The concept of the Purex laundry sheets is that your laundry detergent, softener and anti static is all in one sheet. You simply place it in the washer and go. You transfer the sheet to the dryer with the clothes. The shelf price on the Purex 3-in-1′s is $5.99 – $6.50.  The refill includes 24 sheets ( I didn’t buy the starter kit, figured I could do without the container until I decided if I liked it or not.)  So, they are $.25 per load for your detergent, softener and dryer sheet.

I was able to score a great deal by getting them at Kmart Super Doubles for $1.99.  Regardless of the outcome with the laundry, I thought they were worth the money.

I decided to try these on our vacation.  The convenience allowed me to bring them to the condo without much hassle. They are very light and easy to transport.  However, I wasn’t as impressed with the job they did in the washer. Remember, I am a loyal Purex user for as long as I can remember. I must note that I was using a different washer than normal, and it was a standard washer with an agitator.

  • The clothes did not smell as clean as I would have liked when they came out of the washer. I don’t put all of my clothes in the dryer. The clothes smelled totally different when they came out of the dryer – fresh and clean. I wouldn’t recommend these for clothes that you will air dry.
  • For clothes that were really soiled, they did not seem to do the trick.  My son’s clothes still had stains on them. I would definitely suggest a prewash stain treater for heavily soiled clothing.
  • The dryer sheet seems to perform up to the standards of a regular dryer sheet. They made the clothes smell good and overall, soft.

So, overall I would suggest that if you can find these on sale, they are definitely worth the money for doing  your standard laundry that you are going to throw in the dryer.  They are perfect for towels and sheets.  I wouldn’t suggest them for tough, soiled clothing or clothing you are not going to put into the dryer.  The convenience of this product cannot be beat, so if you are looking solely for convenience this is it.  To check out another option for all-in-one laundry products – visit here for a review of the Dropps Laundry Detergent.

Happy Laundrying!
