Money Saving Monday: Easter Baskets

money-saving-mondayEaster is just around the corner—what are you doing to help the Easter bunny save a little cash this year? Usually, my girls each get 1 item they wanted at Christmas but didn’t receive. I find it on clearance in January or February to set aside for later in the year. Their birthdays are November, December and January so it all hits at once. This year, though, it seems they received everything on their lists—how did that happen?

We have a few traditional items each year: swimsuit, sunglasses and flip flops will all be in their Easter baskets. They also frequently receive jewelry to match their new dresses. It helps keep costs down if I gift them something I would have purchased anyway. This year, we’re also focusing on their upcoming beach vacation. They’ll receive sand toys, beach towels and anything else I can think of along the way. I’m also adding a kite—easily picked up at the dollar story, fills the basket quite nicely and helps me cross something off my 2010 list. I wonder what other fun things I can find for their baskets as double duty towards my Someday lists.

Now, we want to hear your ideas for filling the Easter basket without emptying your wallet!
