One of our girls’ favorite grilled treats is pizza. Partly, because we don’t get to eat a lot of pizza. I usually have to make our gluten free crust from scratch. Plus, it’s so much fun to eat pizza with grill marks on the crust, and I’m always up for an excuse to cook outside in the summertime!
The process is surprisingly simple. You’ll need a pizza crust—any pizza crust. We’ve used premade, from scratch and frozen crusts. If you are using a dough, put it on a foil pizza pan. Otherwise, you can start the crust directly on the grill.
Grill for 5-10 minutes, then remove the crust. Turn it over (a tricky process, if you’re cooking dough on a pizza pan but it works!), add sauce, seasoning, your favorite toppings & cheese.
Return the pizza to the grill and cook until the toppings are warm & cheese is melted. Yum!

We’ve grilled sandwiches. We’ve learned the difference between rubs and marinades. We’ve made leftover grilled chicken into delicious wraps. Now it’s time for the grand finale…desserts! Grilled fruits are impressive and unique with little effort. Here’s a few of my favorite grilled desserts that require little to no additional preparation (though don’t underestimate a good [...]

Do you cook with marinades? You should! Not only do they add a ton of flavor, they are budget savers because they allow you to make tougher, less costly, cuts of meat tender and juicy. Marinades combine herbs, spices, oils, and (this is the key to making meat tender) an acid such as lemon or [...]

July is the height of grilling season and while you escape the heat of the kitchen for the great outdoors, I’ve got some great rubs, marinades, and sauces for you to try! Lets start with rubs! A rub is a delightful combination of dried seasonings that are, you guessed it, rubbed on meats before grilling. [...]

The Cobb Salad is a splendor to behold, so you can’t go wrong with a Cobb Sandwich! The recipe calls for bacon. Lots of it. To beat the heat, you can use leftover bacon, cook up a batch on the grill, or take advantage of the microwave variety (which I think is quite tasty). Also, [...]

Grinder, sub, hoagie, hero, torpedo, panini – whatever you call it, the sandwich is an under-appreciated menu items that fits perfectly in our Beat the Heat Summer Cooking Series! This week I’m going to be sharing three sandwiches that can be served either hot or cold. If serving hot you can still beat the heat [...]

Easy Summer Salsa I use canned tomatoes for my recipe. You can use tomatoes you canned yourself, or fresh tomatoes. If you use fresh, you may want to take out the seeds and drain some of the juice. Ingredients: 3 regular sized cans of diced or whole peeled tomatoes minced garlic to taste salt to [...]
